What is Dual Citizenship?

A dual citizen is someone who is both a citizen and a citizen in two countries. You can also be a citizen in three or more countries. Each country has its own laws about dual citizenship. While some countries allow dual citizenship, others prohibit it. Some countries do not permit it. Others have no laws about dual citizenship. Dual citizenship cannot be applied for. Dual citizenship is when someone becomes a citizen of another country. Some people are automatically granted dual citizenship. A child born to foreign parents is an example of dual citizenship. The U.S. government permits dual citizenship. The United States recognizes U.S. dual citizenship, but the U.S. government doesn’t encourage it as a matter of policy because of the potential problems. Foreign citizen cannot lose their citizenship by becoming a U.S. citizens. Naturalization can make a person a U.S. citizen, but they may retain their original citizenship. It is important to carefully consider dual citizenship as some countries don’t recognize it.
