Holders of expired B-1 Tourist and B-2 Business visas can't renew or extend their visas. U.S. Consulates and Embassies do not accept "visa renewal" requests. You must apply for a B-1 or B-2 visa if your visitor visa has expired. Although many applicants believe they can renew or extend their U.S. visitor visa easily because they have a valid visa, this is not true. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate consider a visa renewal or extension a new application. The usual application requirements and procedures apply. Some U.S. Consulates and Embassies have "Reuse or Reissuance Visa Procedures", which make it faster and easier to apply for a visitor visa. For complete instructions on applying for a U.S. visa, download the "Visa Renewal Application Guide". Visa Renewal Eligibility & Requirements:

Anybody who holds a valid visa or is close to expiring can apply for a United States visitor visa. You will need to apply for a new visa application. There is no visa renewal process. Some U.S. Consulates and Embassies offer expedited services for applicants who are about to lose their visas. This is also known as “Reuse and Reissuance visa Procedures”. The main advantage of visa renewals is the possibility that an applicant does not have to appear at an interview for a visa, particularly if they have had a U.S. Visa for many years and have travelled multiple times in the United States.

Is it possible to travel without a visa?

A visa is valid up to the expiration date unless it has been cancelled previously. If you have an expired passport with a valid U.S. visitor Visa, you can use that passport along with a new passport to travel and enter the United States. For complete instructions on applying for a U.S. visa or renewing an expired visa, download the “Visa Renewal Application Guide”.
