Visa Renewal Guide
DownloadHolders of expired B-1 Tourist and B-2 Business visas can't renew or extend their visas. U.S. Consulates and Embassies do not accept "visa renewal" requests. You must apply for a B-1 or B-2 visa if your visitor visa has expired. Although many applicants believe they can renew or extend their U.S. visitor visa easily because they have a valid visa, this is not true. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate consider a visa renewal or extension a new application. The usual application requirements and procedures apply. Some U.S. Consulates and Embassies have "Reuse or Reissuance Visa Procedures", which make it faster and easier to apply for a visitor visa. For complete instructions on applying for a U.S. visa, download the "Visa Renewal Application Guide". Learn more about Reuse Visa Procedures.
